Start a Computer Business?

Starting a computer business is one of the smartest things a knowledgeable guru can do. Doing it legit from the start and using all the available resources can land you in a great position!

Ok, so you and your friend are computer geeks. You have been working with computers for years now and know them in and out. There really is not a problem you have not already come across and conquered when it comes to computer whether they are laptops or desktops. Do you know the demand for your services? The ratio of people who do/don't know about computers? Let's take your everyday internet user. (which we all know there are millions) He catches a virus on his computer that does not let him go online and access anything. Some of his files are even corrupt and his computer is acting up. To some people that could be an equivalent to the end of the world. Just when they think they are completely doomed, there goes your ad in the newspaper or your flier in the supermarket.

You become the most important person in the world to the user. They rely on having the internet to do what they do everyday, especially people who have online businesses. Now, a lot of other companies will tell you to "bring the computer down and we'll get you fixed up", and some people are ok with that but others are not. Map their address on the net, drive to their house with your tools and attempt to fix their computer right there on site, because after all, that is probably what they would prefer. Then you get to know that customer a bit, you go in their house and talk to them and help fix their problem. Another thing to look at is that some people in that situation will pay you anything to fix their computer. I am not saying use that to your advantage in a bad way, but keep it in mind, we don't work for nothing.

Deciding what you want your company to be. LLC, Corporation? Is everything Legit? One of the most important things about having a business period is ensuring that everything is legal and legitimate. What if you go to someones house to fix a computer or to do whatever business you do and two days later they realize that thousand dollar statue by the fireplace is missing. In reality, they misplaced it but people are quick to blame others first. If you have the proper insurance, they really can't do anything to you. You know you did not take the statue, they think you might of but nothing bad will happen to you. You might lose that customer, UNTIL he finds his statue in the garage forgetting that he put it there last week to polish it. He calls you back and says sorry, a month later he has another computer problem and you go fix it for him. Next thing you know, you have a permanent customer that not only needs your services from time to time but TRUSTS you and feels comfortable working with you.

There are a lot of resources for paperwork when it comes to having a company. Just Microsoft Office by itself offers a lot of programs with invoice templates and more, heck you can download some of the templates for FREE on Microsoft's website. Get yourself a cheap printer, some paper, your good. Also, I don't know if any of you have heard of "Freecycle" but it is something you should check out. No matter where you are, there are freescycle communities near you and basically it is a group of people that post things they either WANT TO GET RID OF or things they need. I just got a brand new computer chair from a lady right down the road from me, FREE.

Recap -
Utilize your resources to the fullest, don't let things pass you by. Do everything legit, make sure you are a step ahead of everything at all times and manage your business the right way. No matter what services you can offer to people, THERE IS a croud that needs you. Find them, help them, the sky is the limit.
